Security Architecture Review

We review architecture and threat models at design time, where security decisions cost little to change and a review after go-live would become expensive remediation. We model the assets and plausible adversaries, examine where trust changes hands and how identity and authorisation are enforced there, and assess how data is classified and protected in the design itself. We then set out the controls the design needs, proportionate to the risk, with any residual risk stated plainly. The output is decisions your teams can build against, not a list of open questions that stalls delivery.

In short

Security architecture review assesses how a system or estate is designed to resist attack, ideally before the design is built. It identifies the trust boundaries, identity decisions and data-protection choices that determine security, while they are still cheap to change.

What we do

The work inside security architecture review.

Threat modelling

We identify the assets worth protecting, the adversaries who would plausibly target them and the abuse cases against the proposed design. This grounds the review in realistic threats rather than a generic checklist. The model becomes a shared reference that the design team can keep using as the system evolves.

Trust boundaries and identity

We review every point where trust changes hands and examine how identity and authorisation are enforced at each one. Boundaries that assume the caller is trustworthy are where serious design flaws hide. We set out where stronger enforcement is needed and what it should look like.

Data protection design

We assess how data is classified, encrypted, keyed and retained within the design itself, before any of it is built. Deciding this early avoids costly retrofitting of encryption and key management later. We recommend protection proportionate to the sensitivity of each data class.

Control recommendations

We recommend controls proportionate to the risk, each tied to a specific threat the model identified, with the residual risk stated honestly. This lets the business accept, treat or defer each risk as a deliberate decision. The recommendations are concrete enough to design and build against directly.

What you receive

Deliverables, in writing.

Documented output your teams keep and can act on without us in the room.

  • Threat model with abuse cases and assumptions
  • Trust boundary and identity design review
  • Data protection design assessment
  • Prioritised control recommendations with residual risk

When this work helps

You may be facing this.

  • A major platform or migration is being designed now
  • Security is being consulted late and blocking delivery
  • Multiple teams are making inconsistent security choices

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand what matters most, the obligations in play, and what the organisation is genuinely trying to protect. We agree scope and rules of engagement in writing here, so testing is bounded and authorised before it begins.

  2. 02

    Assess

Test and review the systems in scope, and establish real exposure rather than theoretical risk. We gather evidence for every finding, so severity reflects what we demonstrated rather than what is merely conceivable.

  3. 03

    Design

Prioritise remediation, control improvements, and architecture changes against risk and effort. We sequence the work so the exposures that matter most are closed first, within what the team can realistically do.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Support remediation, retest what was fixed, and help the practice hold as the environment changes. We confirm fixes actually closed the issue, rather than taking remediation on trust.

Where we work

Delhi, India — and wherever the work is.

Fidova delivers cybersecurity consulting and technical assurance from Delhi, India, and works with clients internationally; testing and review are performed remotely against your environments, with on-site work arranged when scope requires it.

Engagements run in English, are scheduled around your time zone, and can be delivered remotely end to end, with on-site time planned where a phase genuinely benefits from being in the room.
