Source Code Security Assessment

We assess a codebase as a whole, covering security practice, dependency and licence risk, and secret exposure, to give a verdict a buyer or board can act on. Rather than fixing specific findings, we judge how consistently security is handled across the code and what it would cost to reach an acceptable standard. The work runs under confidentiality with defined access, in a form suited to a transaction timetable. The output translates technical quality into a clear decision input for the people making the investment.

In short

A source code security assessment gives a structured verdict on the security quality of a codebase, often for diligence or acquisition. It judges the overall state and practice of the code, not only individual flaws, so a buyer or board can weigh the risk and the cost to put it right.

What we do

The work inside source code security assessment.

Security practice assessment

We judge how consistently security is handled across the codebase, not merely whether individual flaws exist. Consistent practice is a better predictor of future risk than any single bug. The assessment tells a buyer whether the team builds securely by habit or by accident.

Dependency and licence risk

We inventory the third-party components the code relies on and flag both known vulnerabilities and licence obligations that could create legal exposure. Unmaintained or heavily outdated dependencies are a recurring source of risk in acquired code. The inventory gives a clear view of what is inherited along with the codebase.

Secret and history review

We check the repository and its full commit history for credentials, keys and other sensitive data. Secrets removed from the current code often remain recoverable in history and still need rotating. We report what is exposed and what must be revoked before or after a transaction.

Remediation cost view

We estimate the effort required to bring the code to an acceptable security standard, so the assessment becomes a decision input rather than an abstract grade. This lets a buyer weigh the purchase price against the work that follows it. The estimate is grounded in what we found, with the main cost drivers identified.

What you receive

Deliverables, in writing.

Documented output your teams keep and can act on without us in the room.

  • Overall assessment with evidence by area
  • Dependency and licence inventory with risks
  • Secret exposure findings from code and history
  • Remediation effort view for decision-makers

When this work helps

You may be facing this.

  • An acquisition or investment needs technical diligence
  • A supplier's code is being taken in-house
  • Leadership needs an independent verdict on code quality

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand what matters most, the obligations in play, and what the organisation is genuinely trying to protect. We agree scope and rules of engagement in writing here, so testing is bounded and authorised before it begins.

  2. 02

    Assess

Test and review the systems in scope, and establish real exposure rather than theoretical risk. We gather evidence for every finding, so severity reflects what we demonstrated rather than what is merely conceivable.

  3. 03

    Design

Prioritise remediation, control improvements, and architecture changes against risk and effort. We sequence the work so the exposures that matter most are closed first, within what the team can realistically do.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Support remediation, retest what was fixed, and help the practice hold as the environment changes. We confirm fixes actually closed the issue, rather than taking remediation on trust.

Where we work

Delhi, India — and wherever the work is.

Fidova delivers cybersecurity consulting and technical assurance from Delhi, India, and works with clients internationally; testing and review are performed remotely against your environments, with on-site work arranged when scope requires it.

Engagements run in English, are scheduled around your time zone, and can be delivered remotely end to end, with on-site time planned where a phase genuinely benefits from being in the room.
