Compliance Gap Assessments

Before committing budget to a certification or a remediation programme, you need to know the real distance to the target, not an optimistic estimate. We assess your current position against the framework or obligation you face — through documents, interviews and system evidence rather than assertion — and state each gap plainly, including the inconvenient ones. The gaps are then sequenced for remediation by dependency, effort and audit timing, with honest effort estimates. If the finding is that you are not ready, we say so, because an optimistic report that fails at audit costs far more than a candid one that delays the booking.

In short

A compliance gap assessment measures your current position against a framework or obligation and states what is missing. It is deliberately short, because its job is to inform a decision about scope, budget and timing, not to become the programme itself.

What we do

The work inside compliance gap assessments.

Requirement baseline

We establish the exact requirement set that applies to your scope before measuring anything against it. Assessing against a generic checklist rather than your actual obligations produces gaps that do not matter and misses ones that do. A precise baseline is what makes the rest of the assessment defensible.

Current state evidence

We assess what genuinely exists through documents, interviews and system evidence, not through self-assessment. People reliably overstate maturity in good faith, so evidence is what keeps the picture honest. Where a control is claimed but cannot be evidenced, we treat it as a gap, because that is how an auditor will treat it.

Gap identification

We state each gap plainly, including the ones that are inconvenient to surface. A gap assessment that softens its findings defeats its own purpose, since the point is to inform a decision before money is spent. Each gap is described concretely enough that the work to close it is clear.

Remediation sequencing

We sequence remediation by dependency, effort and audit timing so the plan is actually executable. Foundational work is scheduled before the controls that rely on it, and quick, high-value items are not left until last. The result is a realistic path to the target rather than an undifferentiated list of everything missing.

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Establish the obligations, decision rights, and risks that genuinely matter to this organisation. We separate the requirements that truly apply from those assumed to, so effort is not spent governing risks you do not carry.

  2. 02

    Assess

Review existing controls, policy, evidence, and how the work is actually performed. We compare the control on paper with the control in practice, because the gap between the two is usually where the real risk sits.

  3. 03

    Design

Design a proportionate control set with named ownership, evidence, and review cadence. Every control has an owner who can operate it and a defined source of evidence, so nothing depends on memory or heroics.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Embed the changes with the teams doing the work, and test that the controls operate. We hand over controls the process owners can run themselves, rather than a framework only we understand.
