Backend Development

We build backends where correctness under concurrency, query performance, observability and operational cost are engineered rather than hoped for. Business rules are implemented once, with tests, so every interface that calls them behaves the same way. Queries, indexes and caching are designed against real access patterns and data volumes, not a developer's small sample. Structured logging, tracing and alerting are in place from the start, so faults can be diagnosed without guesswork when they occur.

In short

Backend development builds the server-side logic, data access and integrations that make an application correct, fast and operable. It is the part users never see and feel immediately when it is wrong.

What we do

The work inside backend development.

Domain and business logic

We implement rules in one place with tests, so behaviour is consistent across every interface that calls it. When the same rule is duplicated across a web app, an API and a batch job, the copies drift and contradict each other. Keeping one tested implementation removes that whole class of inconsistency.

Data access and query performance

We design queries, indexes and caching against real access patterns and data volume. Performance problems almost always appear at production scale rather than in a small test set, so we work from realistic volumes. The aim is a system that stays responsive as data grows, not one that is fast only while it is empty.

Background and scheduled processing

We build queues, jobs and scheduled work with retries, dead-letter handling and visibility. Work that fails is retried where safe and set aside for inspection where it is not, rather than disappearing. You can see what has run, what is pending and what needs attention, instead of trusting that it happened.

Observability and operations

We add structured logging, tracing and alerting so faults can be diagnosed without guesswork. The cost of operating the system is considered part of building it, not a problem handed to someone else later. When something breaks at an awkward hour, the evidence needed to understand it is already there.

What you receive

Deliverables, in writing.

Documented output your teams keep and can act on without us in the room.

  • Backend services with automated tests around core rules
  • Data access and indexing design with measured query performance
  • Background processing design including retry and failure handling
  • Logging, tracing and alerting in place

When this work helps

You may be facing this.

  • Response times degrade as data volume grows
  • The same business rule is implemented differently in several places
  • Failures are only discovered when a customer reports them

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand the outcome, users, constraints, and the decisions that must be made before code direction is set. We spend this time with the people who own the result and the people who will build it, so scope reflects both.

  2. 02

    Assess

Examine the current architecture, delivery practice, integration surface, and engineering risk. We establish where the genuine difficulty lies, rather than accepting the risk the team already happens to worry about most.

  3. 03

    Design

Define the technical approach, delivery plan, quality gates, and ownership model in writing. Committing it to writing means the reasoning behind each decision survives staff change and supplier handover.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Work with your teams through build and release, adjusting the plan as evidence emerges rather than defending the original estimate. We keep the quality gates and progress evidence in place so leadership can watch the build land.

Where we work

Delhi, India — and wherever the work is.

Fidova provides software development consulting from Delhi, India, and works with product and engineering teams internationally — across India, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, the UK, and North America — remotely, with on-site time where the work needs it.

Engagements run in English, are scheduled around your time zone, and can be delivered remotely end to end, with on-site time planned where a phase genuinely benefits from being in the room.
