Web Application Security

We test web applications the way an attacker who holds a legitimate account would, probing authorisation boundaries, business logic, session handling and data exposure rather than only injection patterns. We work with accounts for each user role so we can reach the privileged functions and cross-user access that black-box testing never sees. Every finding is reported with the steps to reproduce it, the evidence behind it and the practical fix. The aim is to show not just that a weakness exists but what it would let someone actually do to your users and data.

In short

Web application security testing examines authentication, authorisation, business logic and data handling in your web applications. It goes beyond common injection patterns to the authorisation boundaries and workflow logic where the most damaging flaws usually hide.

What we do

The work inside web application security.

Authentication and session testing

We test login, multi-factor enrolment, password reset, session lifetime and token handling for ways in that bypass the intended controls. This includes reset flows that leak tokens, sessions that outlive logout, and multi-factor steps that can be skipped. The outcome is a clear picture of whether an account can be taken over and how.

Authorisation and access control

We attempt both horizontal and vertical privilege escalation, trying to read and act on records belonging to other users and to reach functions reserved for higher roles. We test every role and object reference we are given rather than sampling. The result shows precisely where the application trusts the client when it should not.

Business logic abuse

We test the workflows that carry money, entitlement or approval for sequence, validation and replay flaws that the rules never anticipated. That means manipulating quantities and prices, skipping approval steps and repeating actions that should happen once. These are the findings that automated tools cannot reach and that cause real financial loss.

Data handling and exposure

We examine what the application discloses through responses, error messages, logs, caches and downloadable files. Verbose errors, predictable identifiers and over-sharing APIs frequently expose data the user should never see. We document each exposure and the data class it affects so the sensitivity is clear.

What you receive

Deliverables, in writing.

Documented output your teams keep and can act on without us in the room.

  • Authenticated test coverage across each user role
  • Findings with reproduction steps and evidence
  • Business logic abuse cases documented
  • Remediation guidance and post-fix retest

When this work helps

You may be facing this.

  • The application handles payments, personal data or entitlements
  • Roles and permissions have grown organically
  • A penetration test is required before a major customer signs

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand what matters most, the obligations in play, and what the organisation is genuinely trying to protect. We agree scope and rules of engagement in writing here, so testing is bounded and authorised before it begins.

  2. 02

    Assess

Test and review the systems in scope, and establish real exposure rather than theoretical risk. We gather evidence for every finding, so severity reflects what we demonstrated rather than what is merely conceivable.

  3. 03

    Design

Prioritise remediation, control improvements, and architecture changes against risk and effort. We sequence the work so the exposures that matter most are closed first, within what the team can realistically do.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Support remediation, retest what was fixed, and help the practice hold as the environment changes. We confirm fixes actually closed the issue, rather than taking remediation on trust.

Where we work

Delhi, India — and wherever the work is.

Fidova delivers cybersecurity consulting and technical assurance from Delhi, India, and works with clients internationally; testing and review are performed remotely against your environments, with on-site work arranged when scope requires it.

Engagements run in English, are scheduled around your time zone, and can be delivered remotely end to end, with on-site time planned where a phase genuinely benefits from being in the room.
