Active Directory Security Assessment

We map the realistic attack paths through Active Directory and Entra ID, examining delegation, group nesting, stale privilege and credential exposure. We show the shortest routes by which an ordinary account could reach domain administration, because closing a small number of those paths usually reduces risk more than any other single change. We cover hybrid identity, since attacks increasingly cross between on-premises and cloud. The output is a prioritised hardening and tiering plan sequenced so you can actually execute it.

In short

Active Directory security assessment finds the privilege escalation and lateral movement paths that lead to domain compromise. In most incidents these paths are the route from one compromised laptop to the entire estate, which is why they warrant specific, focused attention.

What we do

The work inside active directory security assessment.

Attack path analysis

We map the shortest realistic routes from an ordinary user account to domain administration. This exposes the chains of permissions and relationships that an attacker would follow but that no single administrator sees. The analysis shows which few changes break the most paths at once.

Privileged group and delegation review

We review privileged group membership, nesting and delegated rights, including the forgotten legacy grants that accumulate over years. Nested groups and old delegations frequently hand privilege to accounts nobody realises hold it. We identify what to remove, tighten or monitor.

Credential and protocol exposure

We examine Kerberos configuration, service accounts, password policy and the use of legacy protocols. Service accounts with high privilege and old passwords, and outdated protocols that leak credentials, are recurring weaknesses. We report which expose credentials to harvesting and how to address each.

Tiering and hardening plan

We set out administrative tiering and hardening steps in a sequence your team can realistically execute. Tiering separates everyday accounts from the privileged ones that must never touch ordinary workstations. The plan is ordered so early steps deliver the largest risk reduction first.

What you receive

Deliverables, in writing.

Documented output your teams keep and can act on without us in the room.

  • Attack path findings with demonstrated routes
  • Privileged access and delegation review
  • Credential and protocol exposure findings
  • Prioritised hardening and tiering plan

When this work helps

You may be facing this.

  • The domain has grown over many years with little cleanup
  • Administrators use the same accounts for daily work
  • Service accounts have high privilege and old passwords

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand what matters most, the obligations in play, and what the organisation is genuinely trying to protect. We agree scope and rules of engagement in writing here, so testing is bounded and authorised before it begins.

  2. 02

    Assess

Test and review the systems in scope, and establish real exposure rather than theoretical risk. We gather evidence for every finding, so severity reflects what we demonstrated rather than what is merely conceivable.

  3. 03

    Design

Prioritise remediation, control improvements, and architecture changes against risk and effort. We sequence the work so the exposures that matter most are closed first, within what the team can realistically do.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Support remediation, retest what was fixed, and help the practice hold as the environment changes. We confirm fixes actually closed the issue, rather than taking remediation on trust.

Where we work

Delhi, India — and wherever the work is.

Fidova delivers cybersecurity consulting and technical assurance from Delhi, India, and works with clients internationally; testing and review are performed remotely against your environments, with on-site work arranged when scope requires it.

Engagements run in English, are scheduled around your time zone, and can be delivered remotely end to end, with on-site time planned where a phase genuinely benefits from being in the room.
