Risk registers that live in departmental spreadsheets tell leadership very little, because the same severity means different things to different teams. We build enterprise risk management that informs decisions: a consistent assessment method, appetite statements specific enough to act on, and an owner for every significant risk. Each risk carries a treatment decision and an escalation threshold, so the register shows movement rather than a static list. Reporting is framed for the board and the relevant committees, so the work changes where attention and money go.
In short
Enterprise risk management gives leadership a consistent view of the risks that could prevent the organisation meeting its objectives. It is the process by which those risks are identified, compared on the same terms, owned by someone accountable and escalated before they crystallise.
We define risk categories, a scoring scale and appetite statements specific enough to guide real decisions. Appetite written as "we are risk averse" cannot be applied; a threshold expressed in time, money or regulatory consequence can. The framework is kept proportionate so assessment is repeatable without specialist help.
Risk identification and assessment
We run workshops and analysis across functions to surface risks consistently, rather than relying on whoever happens to shout loudest. Using one method across the organisation makes a high risk in one function comparable with a high risk in another. It also brings out the risks that sit between functions, which tend to be the ones nobody owns.
Register and ownership
We build a register in which every risk has an accountable owner and an explicit treatment decision — accept, treat, transfer or avoid. The owner is the business person who can actually influence the outcome, not a risk or compliance administrator. Where no such owner can be named, the risk is usually mis-stated, and we work through that before it is logged.
Escalation and reporting
We set escalation thresholds so a worsening risk reaches leadership automatically, not by chance. Reporting shows movement since the last cycle — what rose, what was treated, what is newly in scope — rather than a flat list. This is what lets the board see the few risks that genuinely need a decision this quarter.

When this work helps
You may be facing this.
Risk registers exist per department with no consolidated view
Risk appetite is stated in language too general to apply
Significant risks were known but never escalated
How an engagement runs
Discover, assess, design, deliver.
01
Discover
Establish the obligations, decision rights, and risks that genuinely matter to this organisation. We separate the requirements that truly apply from those assumed to, so effort is not spent governing risks you do not carry.
02
Assess
Review existing controls, policy, evidence, and how the work is actually performed. We compare the control on paper with the control in practice, because the gap between the two is usually where the real risk sits.
03
Design
Design a proportionate control set with named ownership, evidence, and review cadence. Every control has an owner who can operate it and a defined source of evidence, so nothing depends on memory or heroics.
04
Deliver
Embed the changes with the teams doing the work, and test that the controls operate. We hand over controls the process owners can run themselves, rather than a framework only we understand.
