Forecasting Models

We build forecasts with explicit uncertainty ranges and accuracy tracking, so planning decisions reflect what is genuinely knowable rather than a comforting single figure. Candidate approaches, statistical and machine learning alike, are compared on rolling backtests against your current method, so any new model has to earn its place. We account for the seasonality, promotions and one-off events that distort naive models. We also state the horizon beyond which accuracy stops being useful, rather than extending a line because a longer forecast feels reassuring.

In short

Forecasting models project demand, revenue, capacity or cash with stated uncertainty rather than a single false-precision number. A range you can plan buffers against is more honest, and more useful, than a point estimate.

What we do

The work inside forecasting models.

Historic data and seasonality

We analyse your history for seasonality, promotions and one-off events that would otherwise distort a naive model. Treating a spike from a past promotion as normal demand is a common and costly error. Separating signal from these distortions is what makes the forecast trustworthy.

Model selection and backtesting

We compare statistical and machine learning approaches on rolling backtests against your current forecasting method. Backtesting on a moving window reflects how the model will perform going forward, not just how it fits the past. A model that cannot beat your existing approach is not adopted.

Uncertainty and scenarios

We produce ranges and scenarios rather than a single number, so planning can hold buffers deliberately rather than by accident. Stating uncertainty honestly lets you size safety stock or cash reserves to the risk you actually face. It also sets realistic expectations with the people who consume the forecast.

Planning integration

We feed forecasts into the planning cycle and track their accuracy against outcomes each period. Measuring last period's forecast is what turns forecasting into something that improves rather than repeats. Without that loop, nobody ever learns whether the numbers were any good.

What you receive

Deliverables, in writing.

Documented output your teams keep and can act on without us in the room.

  • Backtest comparison against the current forecasting method
  • Forecast with uncertainty ranges and scenarios
  • Documented handling of seasonality and known events
  • Accuracy tracking built into the planning cycle

When this work helps

You may be facing this.

  • Stock-outs and overstock happen in the same quarter
  • Forecasts are built in spreadsheets by one person
  • Nobody measures whether last quarter's forecast was right

How an engagement runs

Discover, assess, design, deliver.

  1. 01

    Discover

Understand the workflow, the data available, the constraints, and what a good outcome would look like. We establish the problem precisely enough to judge whether AI is even the right instrument for it.

  2. 02

    Assess

Review data protection, security, oversight, and feasibility for the specific use cases on the table. We report which cases are worth building, which are better solved another way, and what would have to be true to proceed safely.

  3. 03

    Design

Set out the approach, controls, governance, and evaluation measures before build begins. Deciding data boundaries, oversight, and how success will be measured up front keeps them from becoming retrofits.

  4. 04

    Deliver

Support implementation and evaluate performance, error modes, and control effectiveness in use. We measure the system against the criteria agreed at design, and report honestly where it falls short.

Where we work

Delhi, India — and wherever the work is.

Fidova advises on AI adoption and AI governance from Delhi, India, and works with organisations internationally, including teams that must satisfy overlapping regimes such as India's data protection law, the EU AI Act, and GDPR.

Engagements run in English, are scheduled around your time zone, and can be delivered remotely end to end, with on-site time planned where a phase genuinely benefits from being in the room.
